You can't come aboard if you're black," said the captain.  It's ok I think to myself, I've dealt with racism all of my life.  What else can a poor negro do in a world color-blind to white supremacy.  "I'll pay you extra," I lie, hoping possibly he'll consider and leave me be.  It doesn't work, the only response is a pitiful look that solemnly crosses his face as he retreats to the stern.  What else can I do?  I question myself.  It's here where I turn my back and step off the Titanic.  Days later I find that my color may be an advantage.
